What’s new in E-Invoice Space?
Here are the most important improvements around version 4 - explained in plain language, without the technical fine print. If you have questions or feel something is missing, just reach out to our support.
Version 4
Now in eleven languages
E-Invoice Space now speaks your language: in addition to German, English and French, the app is now also available in Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian (Bokmål), Portuguese, Greek and Romanian.
You can switch the language anytime in Settings - each one is listed under its own native name. On first launch the app automatically picks your browser’s language when it is available.
A clearer start: Create new or Convert
The “Write” area now starts with a clear choice: “Create new” or “Convert existing”.
- With Create new you start from an empty form or with sample data - no distracting upload fields.
- With Convert existing you upload an existing PDF invoice as a template. The upload and embedding options only appear when you actually need them.
That keeps the screen tidy when you create a fresh invoice.
Choose your invoice standard (PRO)
Under “Process details” you can now choose the invoice standard:
- EN 16931 / Factur-X - the default, suitable for general business (B2B).
- XRechnung 3.0 - the stricter profile for the German public sector.
For this, the form gained extra fields (email for buyer and seller plus a seller phone number) that XRechnung requires as the contact and electronic addresses.
Download XML in both common formats
When creating an invoice you can now download the XML data in both technical syntaxes:
- CII - the one embedded in the PDF (e.g. ZUGFeRD/Factur-X).
- UBL - the one exchanged over the PEPPOL network.
Both follow the selected standard and carry the same data.
Letterheads and backgrounds - always standard-compliant
You can now use your own letterhead as a background without worrying about PDF/A compliance:
- Image backgrounds (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, AVIF) are the recommended and always compliant way to add your letterhead.
- If you upload a PDF background, the app checks it automatically. If it would break your invoice’s PDF/A compliance, a warning explains why - and the background is embedded as an image when needed, so your e-invoice stays valid.
- A switch “Embed background as image (PDF/A-safe)” and a resolution selector (150 / 220 / 300 dpi) give you full control over sharpness and compliance.
The same check also applies to “Embed into original”: if the uploaded original file is not PDF/A compliant, you are warned and can optionally embed it as images to stay compliant.
Read invoices from photos and scans
You can now have photos and scanned PDFs read as well. Drop in an image (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, AVIF) or a PDF without a text layer - the app recognizes the text right on your device. IBAN, amounts and other invoice data are detected just like in a regular PDF invoice.
Text recognition runs locally in your browser (German and English). Nothing is uploaded - your documents stay on your computer. The recognized text is cached per document, so re-opening it is instant.
More improvements
- The switch between Read and Write is now a single segmented control - the active mode is clear at a glance.
- A “Feedback” button next to Help and Settings opens a form so you can send us impressions, criticism or requests (with an optional rating and file attachments) directly.
- Several fixes make sure generated invoices reliably pass the official validation services.
